Mastic Sealant
Ameetuff mastic sealant is a flexible fire-resistive elastomeric finish primarily used with low-temperature insulation to prevent migration of water and water vapor into the insulation system through butt joints.
It is also recommended as a bedding compound for cellular glass insulation installation. In this use case, it helps protect insulation from abrasion and metal surfaces from corrosion while supporting fire-protection performance for thermal-insulation systems. It is suitable as a vapor barrier finish for fittings and for outdoor applications where good color retention, chemical resistance, and durability are required.
Mastic sealant provides strong weather barrier and vapor barrier protection for most board stock thermal insulations except polystyrene. It normally bonds well to aluminum foil facings; test application is recommended to confirm adhesion.
